  • Ministry of Economy: Government allocates almost UAH 565 million to pay assistance to victims of the Kakhovka HPP dam blowing up

    The Government has approved a decision to allocate UAH 565 million from the state budget reserve fund to Mykolaiv and Kherson regional state administrations to provide financial assistance to the affected population as a result of the russian federation's undermining of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant dam. The relevant order was adopted at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on 16 June 2023.

    "The Government has decided to provide a one-time payment of UAH 5,000 per person from the state budget reserve fund to all those affected by the russian federation's blowing up of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Plant dam," said Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy of Ukraine.

    According to the Kherson Regional Military Administration (RMA), as a result of the 6 June 2023 blasting of the Kakhovka HPP dam by russian invaders, 49 settlements in the region were flooded, including 35 in the de-occupied territory and 14 in the temporarily occupied territory. Only on the liberated territory of the region, 3,821 houses were flooded as a result of the emergency. The number of registered citizens in this area is 111,941.

    The leadership of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration notes that 31 settlements with a population of about 471,000 people are partially flooded as a result of the emergency in the Mykolaiv region. The survey revealed that 542 households in 18 settlements were flooded. The number of people affected by the flooding is 1,035.

    According to the Government's order, the funds will be distributed as follows: Mykolaiv Regional State Administration (for Mykolaiv RMA) - UAH 5.175 million, Kherson Regional State Administration (for Kherson RMA) - UAH 559.7 million.
