Naftogaz's full unbundling has been completed. In the short term, due to the hard work of the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Protection, experts and European partners, it was proved possible to finalize what had failed to be done in the previous few years.
The final decision in this process was the certification of the Gas Transmission System Operator (GTSO) in accordance with the requirements of the EU's Third Energy Package.
Today, the NEURC has made the last decision in the process of unbundling on the certification of LLC GTS Operator of Ukraine.
Prior to this, on December 17, this year, the NEURC (National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission) received the conclusion of the Energy Community Secretariat on the certification of LLC GTS Operator of Ukraine, thereby approving a decision on the certification endorsed by the NEURC Resolution No. 2482 dated November 22, 2019.
Thus, from now on, Ukraine has a certified operator of the gas transmission system - LLC GTS Operator of Ukraine under the ISO model.
In doing so, Ukraine has fulfilled its obligations to sign the Agreement on Gas Transit in accordance with European law.
In addition, at the same meeting, NEURC decided to issue a license to LLC GTS Operator of Ukraine for the right to carry out activities for the transmission of natural gas (Resolution No. 3011 ➡ https://bit.ly/2ZpjxOz ).
The adopted decisions will come into force on January 1, 2020.
