Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and ACC signed a Memorandum of Cooperation - to introduce European standards of waste management in Ukraine
The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine is working with the American Chamber of Commerce to develop an efficient regulatory framework for waste management. A Memorandum of Cooperation in this area was signed today, October 2, by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine Roman Abramovskyy and President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine Andy Hunder.
According to Roman Abramovskyy, the Ministry is interested in expert support and is ready for open communication with all stakeholders. After all, in order to ensure the development of an effective regulatory framework, the range of parties involved should be as wide as possible.
"Given the need to create an effective waste management system, regulation must be smart and balanced. After all, without stakeholders' acceptance of the established rules, the process of implementing reforms will be complicated. The vision of the Ministry is that the legislative field should be such that businesses want to comply with the established norms, the state has the opportunity to control the process, and citizens have a clean environment. This is our principal objective," Roman Abramovskyy said.
The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine will work together to identify key regulatory provisions for the packaging waste management system, taking into account the principles of the waste hierarchy and extended producer responsibility.
