Network of support specialists in 2025: comprehensive mechanism of assistance during treatment, rehabilitation, and return to civilian life
In 2025, a network of specialists supporting veterans was deployed throughout the country. Assistance for defenders directly in the communities to which they return has ceased to consist solely of ad hoc solutions but has become an important part of a veteran policy. This was reported by the Ministry for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine.
During this time, support specialists have processed more than 146,000 requests and provided more than 600,000 support measures.
In Ukraine, 2,323 specialists have already been employed to provide services in 1,114 local communities, and more than 120 local communities provide support measures under memoranda of cooperation with other local communities.
Of these, almost 40% have the status of a veteran, or member of their family, or the families of deceased defenders.
329 support specialists work in healthcare facilities, providing support not only after returning to the community, but also during treatment, rehabilitation, and registration of status.
A list of support specialists is available in the Dіia app in the Veteran PRO section. There one can find a specialist by region or community, contact them directly, and leave a rating, thereby helping to improve the quality of service.
This not only simplifies the search for assistance but also makes the system more open and focused on the real needs of the veteran community.
On January 7, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine allocated UAH 1.342 billion in subsidies to local budgets to support the activities of specialists assisting war veterans and demobilized persons in 2026.
This will enable specialists to receive their salaries on time, communities to continue expanding their networks in line with needs, and veterans, their families, and the families of those who have died to receive stable and accessible support close to their homes.
