Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Matvii Bidnyi met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Ukraine Mustafa Levent Bilgen.
Matvii Bidnyi expressed gratitude to the Government of Turkey for supporting Ukraine and helping Ukrainians who were forced to leave the country due to russia’s full-scale invasion. He thanked for the solidarity of the Turkish sports community with the Ukrainian sports movement.
The Turkish ambassador assured the Ukrainian side of the unequivocal support and expressed solidarity with the Ukrainian sports community in the face of the ongoing war.
The parties discussed the results of the national teams of the two countries at the Olympics in Paris.
Matvii Bidnyi informed the Turkish side about the Ukrainian House “Volia Space”, which was organised by the Ministry in cooperation with the Office of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine during the Olympic Games. He stressed its effectiveness in spreading information about Ukraine and Ukrainian sport during the war.
The parties also discussed bilateral cooperation in anti-doping activities. The Head of the Ministry of Youth and Sports spoke about updating national legislation, completing the procedures for the formation of anti-doping infrastructure and other important initiatives in the fight against doping in sports.
The parties agreed to deepen cooperation by developing a programme of cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports between the two countries’ relevant ministries.
