Minister for Veterans Affairs of Ukraine Iryna Friz met with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine, Eurasia Laura Cooper in U.S. Department of Defense.
Laura Cooper has responsibility for policy concerning Ukraine. The Minister Iryna Friz thanked the US party for a staunchest and consistent support of Ukraine in the struggle for territorial integrity and sovereignty.
"Ukraine is a vanguard of the protection of democratic values in Europe, and we are further prepared to defend our choice of civilization development of the state, even knowing what a price we have to pay for it and we are grateful for the support of the United States, because your country has immediately adequately evaluated the risks and consequences of the threats posed by the Kremlin's hybrid war against democratic states, in particular, informational, economic and military components that the Kremlin uses to impose its false imperial vision of the world", Iryna Friz stressed.
During the meeting the parties discussed the main threats facing the Ukrainian government, in particular, the sides focused on IT products.
According to the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense, she is ready to support the quality coordination of the Ministry for Veterans Affairs in the field of cybersecurity in the context of the creation of the Unified State Veterans Register and the development of the E-veteran platform.
The Minister asked the American side to support the program aimed at developing a system of protection of mental health of Ukrainian veterans. In particular, the issue at stake is a possibility of training programs for specialists in this field.
In turn, Laura Cooper congratulated the Minister Iryna Friz on the fact that she became the first Ukrainian Minister who is responsible for veterans. She assured that the newly created agency will receive support from the U.S. Department of Defense.
