Minister for Veterans Affairs got familiarized with the work of Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs
"It should be noted that this is literally a big hub of services and capabilities for veterans. The Department of Veterans Affairs of Connecticut consists not only of the administration itself. It includes houses and hostels where veterans can temporarily stay while getting education or looking for work. There is a hospital, as well as a rehabilitation center, including a palliative department", the Minister for Veterans Affairs Iryna Friz stressed during her working visit to the United States.
The Department is a communication platform for philanthropists, volunteers and veterans. Regular events are held with the involvement of veterans and their families. A separate direction is honoring veterans.
The staff of this institution makes up about two hundred people, with a budget of over $ 25 million. It should be noted that this model works almost in all US states.
The Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs was established in 1940.
