Ihor Klymenko met with EU High Representative, Kaja Kallas
Today, October 13, Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas. During the meeting, a ceremony was held to hand over equipment to Ukrainian police and Border Guards.
At the beginning of the event, Ihor Klymenko thanked the representatives of the European Union for their comprehensive support of Ukraine and stressed that the aid package would strengthen the units of the National Police of Ukraine and the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
"The visit of the high-level EU delegation is evidence of consistent support for our state. This support has concrete results and, most importantly, saves lives. Today, we are receiving vehicles that will be in operation tomorrow in those parts of our country where we fight for security every day. These are the state border, communities, and critical infrastructure facilities," said Ihor Klymenko.
The Minister announced that as part of cooperation with the European Union in 2024-2025, the Ministry of Internal Affairs received 70 vehicles for the National Police and 40 for Border Guard Service officers. This will increase mobility, operational efficiency, and the capability to respond to the challenges of war.
“I would like to thank the EU for its systematic support, for our joint work, and for the investments that guarantee security not only for Ukraine but also for the entire European Union—a Europe without terror and without threats,” added Ihor Klymenko.
European Commission Vice-President Kaja Kallas praised the work of Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and assured them of the European Union's continued support.
"We will do everything we can to continue supporting you. I would like to thank you for the work you are doing. You protect the civilian population, ensure their evacuation, and maintain law and order in the liberated territories. For your protection, courage, and contribution - I want to assure you - the European Union will continue to support you in the future," said Kaja Kallas.
Separately, Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko and Deputy Minister Serhii Naumenko demonstrated to EU representatives the equipment used to counter air attacks.
