On December 17, the Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Ihor Petrashko met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Ukraine Noel Israel Khokhar. The parties expressed interest in intensifying mutually beneficial cooperation in the economy, trade and investment.
"For 9 months of 2020, the volume of bilateral trade between Ukraine and Pakistan amounted to $237.5 million, which is 2.3 times more than last year. However, the potential of our cooperation is not fully unlocked. Ukraine is ready to expand the export of agricultural products to the Pakistani market, while the implementation of projects in the field of construction and agro-industrial complex is promising as well," said Ihor Petrashko.
The Minister also noted that Ukrainian companies with a unique industrial complex can participate in large-scale projects in Pakistan, in particular, in the construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). This will open a unique opportunity to enter the market of infrastructure and energy projects under CPEC.
Apart from that, the parties discussed the possibility of holding the First Meeting of the Joint Ukrainian-Pakistani Commission on Economic Cooperation, resumption of the Ukrainian-Pakistani Business Council and joint business missions.
