Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Matsuda Kuninori to discuss urgent energy security issues and priority areas of partner assistance against the backdrop of increased hostile shelling of civilian energy infrastructure.
The Minister of Energy informed the Ambassador of Japan about the operational situation in the energy system after one of the largest combined russian attacks on the Ukrainian energy sector.
The Energy Minister added that once again, thanks to the professional and coordinated actions of the energy sector, the worst-case scenario was avoided, and the integrity and balance of the energy system was preserved.
German Galushchenko also informed the Japanese Ambassador about Ukraine’s current needs to protect and restore the energy system facilities destroyed by russia.
Ambassador of Japan Matsuda Kuninori expressed his sincere condolences to the people of Ukraine over the devastating attacks by the terrorist state and strongly condemned the barbaric shelling of nuclear and all other types of energy facilities. He stressed that Japan would do its utmost to provide Ukrainians with all the critical equipment needed to get through the next heating season.
The Ambassador noted that the Government of Japan would consider increasing and accelerating the supply of the equipment Ukraine needs.
“We are grateful to Japan for its consistent support of Ukraine and assistance in restoring the energy infrastructure destroyed by russia,” German Galushchenko said.
