During his working visit to Washington, German Galushchenko, Minister of Energy of Ukraine, met with Antonella Bassani, World Bank Vice President of the Europe and Central Asia Region, and Arup Banerji, World Bank Regional Country Director for Eastern Europe.

The parties discussed cooperation in the implementation of the Restoration Project of Winterization and Energy Resources (RePoWER), as well as projects to strengthen the power transmission system and install hybrid power generation systems at Ukrhydroenergo.

“We are grateful to the World Bank for the long-term cooperation and successful implementation of projects aimed at developing Ukraine’s energy sector and integrating our power system with the European one. As a result of the war, we have been faced with new challenges that require not only restoration, but also modernisation of the Ukrainian energy sector with the introduction of the most advanced technologies. I am confident that with the World Bank’s support we will be able to achieve significant results in this area,” said German Galushchenko.

The parties also discussed the importance of continued cooperation and further steps to attract the private sector and capital to projects to decentralise power generation, strengthen the resilience of the energy system, and enhance energy security.
