Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Artur Lorkowski. The parties paid special attention to the functioning of Ukraine Energy Support Fund, which was established on the initiative of European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson. The goal is to help Ukrainian energy sector companies that suffer damage and destruction as a result of russian military attacks.

"The Fund is one of the most effective tools to support the Ukrainian energy sector. Our energy infrastructure has been in the enemy's direct firing line since the first days of the full-scale invasion and has been subject to massive shelling since 10 October last year. The equipment purchased at the expense of the Fund's donors significantly helps to restore damaged energy facilities," said German Galushchenko.

The Minister informed the leadership of the Energy Community Secretariat about the consequences of the recent russian massive attack, which had caused significant damage to Ukraine's energy infrastructure. He also stressed that Ukraine was not only carrying out repair work at the facilities affected by the shelling, but was also preparing for the next heating season, focusing on decentralizing its generating capacity. Given these preparations, as well as the continuation of russian attacks, there is a significant need for additional supplies of equipment to ensure the stable functioning of the electricity sector.

The meeting's participants also discussed cooperation on the integration of the energy markets of Ukraine and the EU and the fulfillment of Ukraine's international commitments in the energy and climate sectors.
