Today, on February 11, 2023, during a working visit to one of the national nuclear power plants, Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko announced the completion of the medium scheduled preventive maintenance of the NPP unit and its connection to the power grid.
"Despite yesterday's attempts by the terrorist country to leave Ukrainians without electricity and heat, the situation in the Ukrainian power system is under control. This, in particular, was facilitated by the selfless work of our nuclear engineers, who quickly carried out an average scheduled repair at this thousandth power unit with an overload of nuclear fuel. Thank you for that," the Energy Minister said.
German Galushchenko also visited the turbine room of another power unit, where the restorative repair of the turbine generator with rotor replacement was completed. As a result, today the power unit has returned to its maximum capacity, adding another 220 MW of electricity to the grid.
Thus, all nine power units of nuclear power plants located in the government-controlled territory are now operating in the Ukrainian power system. Another 6 power units of the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia NPP are shut down.
According to Energy Minister German Galushchenko, today's event will significantly reduce the generation deficit in the power system and reduce the duration of power outages.
