The issues related to attraction of Canadian investors to implementation of joint projects on energy efficiency, renewable energy and energy utilization of garbage were touched upon during a meeting between Head of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Serhii Savchuk and representatives of the Embassy of Canada to Ukraine.
"Canada is important partner for us taking into account its significant investment resources, best practices in clean energy, as well as the great Ukrainian diaspora," Serhii Savchuk underscored.
In particular, Canada has striking developments in renewable electricity, since it generates about 65% of all electricity from clean sources. In 2015, Canada ranked second place in the world in the development of hydropower.
During the meeting the parties discussed all mutually beneficial directions in the green energy sector given the rapid pace of development of this area in Ukraine, current and planned incentives.
The parties also focused on the energy services market in the budget sector that has been developing rapidly since 2016 due to effective legislative changes.
Following the results of the meeting the sides agreed to work out the perspective directions of cooperation between the two countries in the abovementioned areas.
Moreover, the conversation revolved around presenting the investment attractiveness of the energy efficiency and clean energy sector of Ukraine during the "Ukraine Reform Conference" in Canada in July this year in order to engage Ukrainian and Canadian investors in duscission of joint investment projects.
