A comprehensive road network restoring program in Ukraine that was launched 2 years ago envisages the construction of new motorways, as well as restoring of roads that were built decades ago and have not been repaired since that time. This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman during his meeting with regional media outlets.

He stressed that patching pits widely carried out on the roads doesn’t mean renovation of roads built a year ago. The new roads, in most cases, "have endured the winter" in commendable condition, assured the Head of Government.

"If you drive along new roads, those are the roads of the Groysman Government built in the framework of our program", said the Premier. "While those ruined roads that you see are not the roads of our Government, they were built 10 years ago. However, it is our responsibility to restore them. And we are doing that. We need two things - money and time."

The Head of Government stressed that within five years the Government had been engaged in a large array of activities that would at least enable to connect all regional centers by good roads. The total budget for five years is about UAH 300 billion. But there is a requirement - to use funds efficiently, both at the central and local level. The Prime Minister reminded that in the current year there had been allotted a resource worth UAH 11 billion for local road construction. And the objective of local authorities is to change the situation in the roads sector on the ground.
