Minister of Energy of Ukraine and Minister for the Energy Transition of France discuss the needs of energy sector of Ukraine and the situation at NPPs
Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko held an online meeting with Minister for the Energy Transition of the French Republic Agnès Pannier-Runacher.
The Minister of Energy thanked his colleague for the assistance that the French side had provided to the energy sector of Ukraine - about 73 tonnes of materials and equipment. The Minister stressed that the relevant equipment helps Ukrainian power engineers to restore the facilities and networks that had been destroyed by russian attacks.
German Galushchenko accentuated that on the eve of winter season russia didn't stop, but intensified massive shelling of energy infrastructure facilities that provide electricity and heat to millions of civilians.
In addition, russians have repeatedly shelled infrastructure facilities and networks that provide power supply to Ukrainian nuclear power plants. The Minister stressed that such actions of the terrorist country pose a direct threat to the nuclear safety not only of Ukraine but also of the whole Europe.
The Ministers paid special attention to the current situation at Ukrainian nuclear power plants, in particular, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, which is currently occupied by russia - Zaporizhzhia NPP. The parties discussed the activities of the IAEA monitoring mission at the plant and emphasized the need for the speedy demilitarization and de-occupation of ZNPP.
Agnès Pannier-Runacher assured that France would continue to support Ukraine in countering the aggressor, in particular at the political level. The Minister also stressed that the French side would continue to provide help to the Ukrainian energy sector in the form of equipment necessary for the restoration works.
Today, the Ukrainian team also held an online meeting with representatives of French energy companies on the basis of the Mouvement des entreprises de France (MEDEF). Representatives of the Ministry of Energy, NPC Ukrenergo and energy companies discussed the possibilities of the French side in providing operational assistance to the energy sector of Ukraine, as well as the prospects for the participation of French business in projects to rebuild the Ukrainian energy sector after the victory.
