Sumy region had effectively used more than 90% of all funds allocated by the state for the development of education in 2019, which is one of the best indicators. Already this week, the Government is allocating funding for the New Ukrainian School and reconstruction of hub schools in regions- this will enable all regions to start procurement procedures earlier and use more effectively allocated funds. It would be good to achieve at least the level of efficiency that we have in Sumy region. This was stated by the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Hanna Novosad during a meeting with the heads of education management organizations of Sumy region on February 11.
"There are no more outdoors school restrooms in Sumy region, all funding for the New Ukrainian School, Internet, computer, science and mathematics and the Ukrainian language were used to the fullest extent - this is the result that other regions should strive for. This means that you work with tenders as systematically as possible, and you can take on responsibility when dealing with new, difficult purchases - for example, such as internet access to schools. This is an example that should be taken on board others," Hanna Novosad stressed.
In 2020, local governments will receive from the state budget UAH 7 billion 564 million 731 thousand for the development of educational infrastructure.
"This is almost twice as much as last year. It is very important for us to continue the tendency towards increasing funding for education. This year we for the first time planned a targeted subsidy for the development of hub schools worth UAH 3.5 billion. Our task is to keep this subvention growing every year and we can do more to improve the quality of education for children in rural areas," the Minister underscored.
