  • France presents Ukraine with bridges to restore transport communication in the war-affected region
Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, posted 01 December 2022 14:05

French state humanitarian operator CDCS gifted Ukravtodor 3 bridges to be installed in Chernihiv region. Today the bridges arrived in Ukraine.

"The bridges provided by France will be used to improve the mobility of the population in Chernihiv region. The priority is their arrangement on those sections of roads on which the humanitarian situation in the region critically depends.

We are working with our international partners to increase the number of such bridges in the de-occupied regions.

I am grateful to the Minister of Transport of France Clément Beaune, the Embassy of France in Ukraine, partners from the French state operator CDCS and the Matière company for prompt and effective cooperation. We continue to work together to assess the damage and determine the priority needs for reconstruction", commented Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.

European partners ordered the structures from Matière, which manufactured them to the parameters required by Ukraine. Three bridges 68, 34.2 and 23 meters long will help to ensure sustainable traffic on the main state roads of Chernihiv region as soon as possible.

The French bridges are the result of fruitful cooperation between the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Center for Crisis Management and Support (CDCS) and Matière.

We remind that since February 24, 27 bridges and overpasses have been destroyed in Chernihiv region. The road builders have already restored the passage through 20 temporary crossings. Thanks to the heroic work of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, rescuers and road builders, a humanitarian catastrophe was avoided in the liberated Chernihiv region.
