Estonia ready to help Ukraine with equipment and experience in environmental protection

Estonia is ready to help Ukraine with equipment and experience in the field of environmental protection. This was agreed during an online meeting between Ruslan Strilets, Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, and Madis Kallas, Minister of the Environment of Estonia.

The parties discussed environmental pollution caused by the war and its consequences for the entire world. Ruslan Strilets also voiced the most important environmental needs of Ukraine today.

“Estonia is our reliable partner, and it unequivocally supports Ukraine in our struggle for freedom and on our course to the EU and NATO. The Estonian Ministry of the Environment is ready to provide equipment for environmental monitoring and share its experience in documenting environmental pollution with Ukrainian specialists. In addition, Estonian experts can support the Ukrainian environmental sector with their expertise and share their experience in implementing environmental reforms with our specialists. Despite the war, Ukraine needs such expert support, as it has never stopped implementing European integration reforms,” said Ruslan Strilets.

The head of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources thanked Madis Kallas for the meeting and the launch of cooperation between the two ministries. Together, Ukraine and Estonia will be able to show good results and respond to the current challenge of saving Europe’s nature.

Besides, Ruslan Strilets invited Madis Kallas to visit Ukraine. Indeed, the figures on environmental damage caused by the war are just numbers on paper. The Estonian Minister of the Environment must see with his own eyes the consequences of russian crimes on Ukrainian soil.
