Energy, housing reconstruction and business support are the main topics of the meeting between the Prime Minister and the USAID Administrator

On 2 October, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with USAID Administrator Samantha Power in Kyiv.

The main issues discussed included assistance to Ukraine's energy sector in preparing for the heating season. The parties coordinated equipment needs for the restoration and decentralisation of the power system.

The participants also discussed the implementation of important joint projects. In particular, the restoration of residential buildings and the supply of drinking water to Mykolaiv.

"USAID is one of the largest donors to Ukraine. I am grateful to the United States for its consistent support in all areas and for its high level of involvement in the restoration of our country," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of supporting projects at the level of cities and communities.

Denys Shmyhal thanked USAID for its support programmes for small and medium-sized businesses. He noted that Ukraine seeks to develop cooperation in this area, particularly in the agricultural sector.

The parties also touched upon the implementation of reforms in Ukraine. Samantha Power said that USAID is commited to assisting and investing in the customs reform.

The meeting also brought together First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy Yuliia Svyrydenko, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha, Minister of Energy German Galushchenko, and Head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Serhii Sukhomlyn.
