Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, discussed with his Swedish counterpart Parisa Liljestrand the current and future cooperation between the countries in the cultural sphere.
On January 1, Sweden assumed its six-month presidency of the Council of the European Union. Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson clearly stated that comprehensive assistance to Ukraine in its fight against russian aggression, political, economic and humanitarian aid would remain among the priorities of the Swedish presidency.
"I heard this position at a meeting with Minister for Culture Parisa Liljestrand. We talked about preserving heritage, the needs of the industry within the country -both of artists and institutions, promoting Ukrainian culture in Sweden, supporting Ukrainian media, and my proposed formula for allocating 1% of the EU's cultural budgets to Ukraine's cultural sector. Thank you for having similar goals and preparing for fruitful cooperation over the next six months and beyond," the Minister said.
