State Emergency Service of Ukraine, posted 18 January 2025 16:36

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine has received three lightweight KOZAK PM-L pyrotechnic vehicles purchased with funds provided by the Government of Slovenia under the United24 initiative. The certificates for the vehicles were handed over to the Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, Andrii Danyk, by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, Tanja Fajon, who is currently on a working visit to Ukraine. The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Nadiia Bihun.

"I am grateful to Slovenia, the country that consistently supports Ukraine. This is the second transfer of equipment over the past six months, which is essential for demining our territories. Importantly, the pyrotechnic machines received by the SES specialists were made in Ukraine. This is additional support for the Ukrainian economy during the war. But the most important thing, of course, is that support for humanitarian demining projects saves lives," said Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Nadiia Bihun.

The tender for the purchase of light pyrotechnic vehicles was held in September 2024. The purchase price of three units of equipment was about UAH 38 million, which is UAH 3.6 million cheaper than the starting price. The SES has been using machines of this class for many years.

"The most precious thing in demining is people. And these pyrotechnic vehicles allow us to save the lives of our sappers, as they can safely transport mines and other explosive items. Tomorrow, all three vehicles will be sent to the area of operational tasks," said Andrii Danyk, Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

This is the second transfer of equipment purchased with funds provided by Slovenia. In October 2024, the SES received two tractor-trailers for transporting demining vehicles. The Governments of Ukraine and the Republic of Slovenia signed an agreement on the allocation of EUR 1.5 million for humanitarian assistance in the field of demining in December 2023. It entered into force on 3 July 2024 after the completion of the necessary domestic procedures.

"We are focused on demining expertise and innovation, which we are happy to share with you. We are pleased that we have had the opportunity and financial resources to support Ukraine over the past two years. And we will continue to do so," said Tanja Fajon, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia.
