Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko met with a delegation of Iceland headed by Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir.
The Minister thanked Iceland for its contribution of EUR 1.4 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. He emphasized that the funds would be used to purchase equipment that would help Ukrainian power engineers to carry out restoration work faster and bring light and heat back to Ukrainian homes.
The Minister also outlined the significant potential for cooperation between Iceland and Ukraine.
“Ukraine will accelerate the green transition and replace the thermal generation damaged by the enemy with modern carbon-free technologies. The development of renewable energy will allow us to make our energy system more resilient and decentralized in times of war,” stressed German Galushchenko.
The Energy Minister emphasized the interest of the Ukrainian side in cooperation in wind and hydropower, as well as in energy storage projects.
