Under the coordination of the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine received another batch of assistance from Japan. These are generators provided by Sumitomo Corporation and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), as well as protective gabions.

The generators with a capacity of 6.5 kW to 160 kW will be transferred to GTSOU facilities to provide backup power supply when needed. And 1800 gabions have been installed at GTSOU facilities in different regions of Ukraine.

“The assistance of the Government of Japan and the entire Japanese people to the energy sector is constant and systematic, which is extremely important for the restoration of our energy infrastructure. Japan is also our partner in the implementation of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula, which includes important components on energy security, as well as radiation and nuclear safety. We are sincerely grateful for their steadfast position and support,” said Minister of Energy German Galushchenko.

According to Dmytro Lyppa, CEO of GTSOU, the assistance from Japan will contribute to the stable operation of the company’s facilities across Ukraine and enhance their protection.

Earlier, thanks to the coordinated cooperation of the Government of Japan, the Ministry of Energy, the EBRD and UNDP, Ukraine received the necessary autotransformers and gas turbines.
