  • Prime Minister: Number of movies filmed under the Government support will reach 148 till the end of the year

    The number of movies filmed over three years in Ukraine with the support of government programs for the revival of national cinema will reach 148 by the end of the year, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman stated.  Today, on August 21, the Prime Minister during a Government meeting presented the current state of affairs in the economy, social, education, medicine, defense sectors and outlined the main priorities that need to be continued.

    According to Volodymyr Groysman, cinema revival has become one of the most successful cultural policy areas of the incumbent Government  along with "Small Cities Big Impressions" initiative and historical landmark projects. Moreover, funds allocated for the implementation of projects under these initiatives are not only governmental support - through budget subsidies and the State Regional Development Fund  but also the revenues of the regions obtained under decentralization. Yes, this year "Small Cities Big Impressions" initiative encapsulates 74 projects worth UAH 41.3 million. Restoration of historic places are 638 projects to the tune of UAH 1 billion.

    A special emphasis was placed on the completion of the Holodomor Victims' Memorial, National Memorial Complex of Heroes of Heavenly Hundred and the National Historical and Memorial Reserve “Babyn Yar”. The Prime Minister stressed that the Holodomor Victims' Memorial is a matter of honor for every Ukrainian. The project needs to be completed and turned into a major cultural, historical and educational center.

    "The issue of national memory is important. This is the basis of our state and our people", Volodymyr Groysman underscored.
