Dmytro Kuleba invites Kuwait to join in rebuilding Ukraine
On April 18, during a visit to Kuwait, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba met with Head of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development Waleed Al-Bahar.
The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development is a Kuwaiti state financial institution that participates in development projects in 105 countries around the world with a total volume of USD 21.8 billion.
During the meeting, the Minister spoke about the efforts of the Government of Ukraine and international partners to restore Ukrainian infrastructure damaged by russian aggression.
“russian aggression has caused a lot of destruction. However, as emphasised by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, we will definitely restore everything. There are projects that can be financed right now. In the overall perspective of post-war reconstruction, Ukraine is likely to become the largest construction site in the world,” said Dmytro Kuleba.
The Minister invited the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development to join in the restoration of Ukrainian infrastructure.
In this context, Waleed Al-Bahar said that his fund was ready to take part in the international Ukraine Recovery Conference to be held in London at the end of June. He also stressed that cooperation with Ukraine would be one of the Fund’s priorities.
The parties paid particular attention to social projects, including the construction of new hospitals, schools and kindergartens in Ukraine, as well as the implementation of psychological support and rehabilitation programmes for Ukrainians affected by the war.
The Minister and the Head of the Fund agreed to organise a meeting of experts from Ukraine and Kuwait in the near future to discuss in detail the prospects for cooperation.
