Dmytro Kuleba: We are creating new opportunities in Kuwait for the Ukrainian state, business and citizens
On April 18, during a visit to Kuwait City, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah. The visit of the head of Ukrainian diplomacy took place on the day of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and Kuwait.
At the beginning of the talks, the parties signed a memorandum on the allocation of USD 1 million by the Kuwaiti Government for the purchase of power generators for Ukraine to be delivered in the near future.
“We highly appreciate Kuwait’s support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as the humanitarian assistance provided by the Kuwaiti side to Ukraine after the start of the full-scale russian invasion. Ukraine has gone through the most difficult winter in its history, and we continue to strengthen the Ukrainian energy system for the long term. The powerful generators to be transferred under the new initiative will help us ensure its resilience,” said Dmytro Kuleba.
The Foreign Ministers discussed diplomatic efforts to stop russian aggression and restore peace. The Ukrainian Minister thanked his counterpart for supporting the relevant UN General Assembly resolutions and presented in detail President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula, the implementation of which would guarantee a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
Dmytro Kuleba stressed the importance of joining forces to prevent russia from undermining the Black Sea Grain Initiative. The Minister also invited Kuwait to participate in President Zelenskyy’s humanitarian programme Grain From Ukraine.
An important topic of discussion was the involvement of the Kuwaiti side in the implementation of economic projects in Ukraine.
“One of the priorities of Ukrainian diplomacy is to open new horizons for Ukraine in the world and in the Middle East in particular. During my talks in Kuwait, we discussed concrete new opportunities for the Ukrainian state, business and citizens,” said Dmytro Kuleba.
The Foreign Ministers agreed to intensify direct contacts between business circles and stimulate an increase in trade.
In conclusion, Dmytro Kuleba invited Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah to visit Ukraine at his convenience.
