As a result of long negotiations, the European Union has adopted an overriding decision on establishing an advisory military training mission in Ukraine, which is an important political signal of the beginning of cooperation in the military sphere.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba stated this at a briefing following the meeting with the EU’s foreign ministers in Brussels he had taken part in.

"We have reached today an agreement that the European Union will launch an advisory military training mission in Ukraine. The parameters of this mission and the time of its establishment will be clarified, but the decision has been made in principle," Dmytro Kuleba said.

The Minister stressed that the deployment of the mission would be an important political signal of increasing the EU presence in Ukraine and the beginning of cooperation in the military sphere.

"I emphasize once again: the mission will be advisory and training, these are not combat units. But it is extremely important that this initiative has come to an end. We have been working with friends in the EU for a long time to make this happen," the Minister stressed.
