The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine held a video conversation with Ambassador of China to Ukraine Fan Xianrong.
Dmytro Kuleba expressed gratitude to China for its assistance to Ukraine in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the humanitarian aid consignment, which will arrive in Ukraine on April 1. It will include PCR tests, contactless thermometers, medical goggles and other personal protective equipment for medical personnel.
The parties agreed to continue cooperation in this area. In particular, Fan Xianrong, at the request of the Foreign Minister, confirmed the possibility of facilitating the centralized delivery to Ukraine of assistance that Chinese cities had collected for Ukrainian sister cities.
In order to develop a strategic partnership between Ukraine and China, Dmytro Kuleba and Wang Yi will hold the first telephone conversation between the two foreign ministers tomorrow, April 1.
"We can turn this year of global risks into a year of opportunities in China-Ukraine relations," Dmytro Kuleba said.
The interlocutors paid special attention to the development of trade and investment between the countries, in particular, discussed prospective projects that could be implemented in Ukraine in the near future with the participation of China.
“Supporting Ukrainian exporters is my priority. On the outcomes of 2019, China has become a major trading partner for Ukraine. The trade turnover between our countries reached a record of $ 12.8 billion. This year we must not only preserve but also develop this success by balancing the structure of trade,” the Foreign Minister said.
