  • Dmytro Kuleba and Olta Xhaçka agreed to intensify relations between Ukraine and Albania

    Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba had a phone conversation with Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania Olta Xhaçka.

    The Foreign Ministers agreed on steps to ramp up relations between Ukraine and Albania in the political, trade, cultural and tourism spheres. They exchanged invitations to pay a visit at a time acceptable to both parties.

    Dmytro Kuleba informed Olta Xhaçka in-depth about the preparations for the Crimean Platform summit and the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence on August 23-24, and invited the Albanian leadership to take part in them.

    The interlocutors paid special attention to the increase in trade between Ukraine and Albania, which amounted to USD 36.8 million in 2020. In this context, the ministers agreed to hold the first meeting of the Ukrainian-Albanian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation by the end of the year.

    The sides positively assessed the high level of cooperation and mutual support of the two states within the framework of international organizations, agreed to hold consultations of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for further coordination of positions in the United Nations.

    The Foreign Minister of Ukraine thanked his counterpart for Albania's openness to Ukrainian tourists, in particular, on no need to conduct a COVID-19 PCR test when entering the country.
