Government allots UAH 9.2 billion to protect 245 critical infrastructure facilities in non-frontline regions

The Government has earmarked UAH 9.2 billion to implement Regional Resilience Plans. 245 critical infrastructure facilities in non-frontline regions will be protected as part of preparations for the coming winter. This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

“This is the second tranche of funding for the Resilience Plans. Of the total amount, UAH 5.2 billion will be allocated to the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development for the protection of major energy facilities. Another UAH 3.5 billion will go to the regions — for the construction of protective structures for distribution substations, transformers, gas distribution stations, and other critical infrastructure facilities. Additionally, JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” will receive UAH 528 million to strengthen the protection of its facilities," Yulia Svyrydenko said.

The Head of Government noted that the allocated funds would cover 30% of the financing needs for the designated facilities and a portion of the debt for work already underway.

“We should start preparing for winter right now. We are doing this as part of the implementation of Regional Resilience Plans. The priorities are protecting energy facilities, developing distributed generation, providing additional power sources for heat and water supply facilities, and decentralizing heat supply,” the Prime Minister noted.

Last week, the Government allocated UAH 12.85 billion to frontline regions for initial preparations for the coming winter as part of the Regional Resilience Plans.
