State Fisheries Agency and the European Business Association discuss the implementation of traceability for fish products
A working meeting was held between the Head of the State Agency for Land Reclamation, Fisheries and Food Programmes, Ihor Klymenok, and representatives of the European Business Association. During the event, a range of current issues related to the development of the fisheries sector and potential areas for further cooperation were discussed.
One of the key topics of the dialogue was the implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring Traceability of Aquatic Bioresources and/or Products Made from Aquatic Bioresources.” Ihor Klymenok informed the Association’s representatives about the State Fisheries Agency’s efforts to launch a traceability system for aquatic bioresources—a software product called the eFishery electronic system, which will ensure control over products at all stages, from catch to final sale to consumers.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain ongoing dialogue and fruitful cooperation on future legislative initiatives regarding the traceability of aquatic bioresources.
