  • State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving and the Ukrainian Hydrogen Council have consolidated cooperation by concluding a Memorandum

    Acting Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Konstiantyn Hura and President of the Energy Association Ukrainian Hydrogen Council Oleksandr Repkin signed a Memorandum of Partnership in the field of hydrogen energy development.

    The goal is to focus efforts on effective cooperation aimed to accelerate the introduction of hydrogen technologies in the energy market of Ukraine.

    Within the framework of the Memorandum, the parties agreed to work together on the following tasks:

    • identification and removal of barriers to the introduction of hydrogen technologies in Ukraine;
    • development of a partnership in the field of hydrogen technologies between Ukraine, the European Union, the United States and other countries.

    "The State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving appreciates the cooperation with the Ukrainian Hydrogen Council, which three years ago, at the time of its establishment, saw the prospects of hydrogen energy all over the world and in Ukraine as well. The association is actively developing Ukraine’s ties with European associations as well as initiatives in this direction," stressed Konstiantyn Hura.

    It is also expected that hydrogen energy can become a major competitive market in the world.

    "Ukraine is viewed by the European Union as one of the strategic partners in the development of hydrogen energy. Given our potential, we have every chance to integrate into Europe's hydrogen plans. The task is to create conditions for the effective functioning of this market. Therefore, the Ministry of Energy and UNECE have already explored ways to develop this area and are working on a strategy for the development of hydrogen energy in Ukraine until 2050," he added.

    "There are already a number of joint initiatives that we plan to implement to trigger the development of the hydrogen economy," said Oleksandr Repkin, President of the Ukrainian Hydrogen Council Energy Association.

    The parties agreed that the joint efforts of various parties - government, business, associations, experts - are an important component for the effective development of hydrogen energy according to world best practices.
