On October 12, 2020, the State Archival Service of Ukraine (Ukrderzharkhiv) became a full participant in the Archive Portal Europe project.
Anatolii Khromov, Head of the State Archival Service of Ukraine, and Arjan Agema, President of the Governing Board of the Archives Portal Europe Foundation, signed an agreement on metadata exchange online.
The Foundation is a non-profit organization conducting its activities aimed at publishing within the framework of a single project collections of archival documents on the history of European states and at supporting the relevant electronic resource. Currently, the project participants are the national archives/state archives services of the EU member states. The Foundation actively cooperates with the Europeana Internet portal.
The European Board of National Archives (EBNA) initiated the creation of a single electronic archival resource, the Archives Portal Europe, and its decision was supported by the EU.
The aim of the project is to improve the search by researchers in the funds of archival institutions of Europe archival documents on the subject of their research, publication of digitized archival documents on the history of EU member states on a single shared platform to improve user access to archival information.
The signing of the agreement with the Archives Portal Europe Foundation shall facilitate the entry of the State Archival Service into the European archival environment, the first resource to be posted on European archival Internet portals will be the Unique Documents Register of the National Archival Fund of Ukraine.
