State to reimburse veterans with disabilities for vehicle re-equipment costs
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution introducing a mechanism for monetary compensation for veterans with disabilities for re-equipping their vehicles to suit their needs.
The maximum payment amount is up to UAH 70,000.
This is not just financial assistance, but another step towards true accessibility and mobility in civilian life for defenders who suffered health damage during the war.
When and how to receive it?
Starting in January 2026, compensation will be provided to veterans with disabilities based on actual, documented expenses for re-equipping their private vehicles at specialised service stations that have such a licence.
Where to apply for compensation?
To the structural units responsible for veteran policy (within the RMA, district administrations or executive bodies of city councils), with an application and the necessary documents.
We will provide additional information on how to receive compensation.
Creating a barrier-free environment for veterans with disabilities is not only a matter of convenience, but also of respect for their heroism and contribution to the defence of the country. Barrier-free access means unhindered access to transport, education, healthcare, services and employment.
The pilot project was developed by the Ministry for Veterans Affairs in accordance with the 2025-2026 Action Plan for the implementation of the National Strategy for the Creation of a Barrier-Free Environment in Ukraine.
It is worth noting that the Ministry for Veterans Affairs covers the cost of driving lessons for veterans with disabilities. To receive free training, please contact your local veterans affairs office at your place of registered or actual residence (stay).
