The Republic of Korea, being one of the regional leaders, can play a more prominent role in the international community's efforts to help Ukraine. The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal noted this in his video address to the participants of the Asian Leadership Conference, which took place in Seoul on July 13.
"We can stop this war if we all together increase the pressure on the aggressor. The best tool of pressure is sanctions. We need a full embargo on trade with russia, closure of ports for russian vessels, complete withdrawal of international companies from the russian market," the Head of the Government emphasized.
The Prime Minister emphasized that business with russia is becoming toxic, and the money of Korean corporations that work in russia and pay taxes there, one way or another, eventually goes to finance the war.
"moscow has already been forced to at least double the spending on its army, and therefore it is necessary to cut off the cash flow that the aggressor receives from trade and taxes of foreign companies. This is a task for all democratic countries of the world, and we hope that the Republic of Korea will support such a position," said Denys Shmyhal.
The Head of Government noted that the sanctions policy against the russian federation had led to the exit of some Korean companies from the russian market. He invited Korean giants to move their production to Ukraine.
"Ukraine will win this war. And we are already preparing a program for the post-war reconstruction of our country. A while ago, the Republic of Korea managed to rise from the ashes of war, including thanks to international aid. We are inspired by your experience of a quick leap forward and what the world later came to call the recipe for the success of the Asian Tigers," said Denys Shmyhal.
As the Prime Minister noted, the post-war recovery of our country is already estimated at USD 750 billion. These are hundreds of projects in the field of infrastructure, construction, transformation of industry, health care, development of high technologies, electronic governance: "We invite Korean business, known all over the world, to join the reconstruction of Ukraine and become an important component of our future."
