The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a draft agreement between the governments of Ukraine and Japan to attract a grant of JPY 8.8 billion, or about USD 58 million. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal at a meeting of the Cabinet on 11 February.

“These are funds from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to finance reconstruction projects. I am grateful to our Japanese partners for their consistent and unwavering support,” he said.

According to Denys Shmyhal, the Government is systematically working to attract additional resources for reconstruction programmes based on the principle of “build back better”.

In particular, changes under one of them, namely the improvement of logistics capacity and the restoration of transport infrastructure, are already being felt by Ukrainian businesses and citizens.

“With the support of our partners, we will strengthen this area along with other recovery priorities. Housing, energy, critical infrastructure,” said Denys Shmyhal.
