During an online conversation on September 29, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Executive Vice-President of the European Commission Valdis Dombrovskis discussed expanding cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union as well as strengthening bilateral trade.
Thus, the parties raised the issue of replacing sanctioned russian products in the European Union with Ukrainian products. Moreover, they paid attention to the preparation for the start of customs visa waiver from October 1, work towards the signing of the ACAA, or the so-called industrial visa waiver, and cooperation in the financial sector for the current and the next year.
"We are grateful for the timely help of the European Union in the fight against the russian aggressor. We appreciate the disbursement of significant macro-financial assistance from the EU," the Prime Minister noted.
In addition, the parties discussed the increase of border throughput capacity between Ukraine and the EU. Denys Shmyhal proposed a solution to the European Commission that would help reduce queues at the relevant checkpoints.
