On February 24, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal and Prime Minister of Moldova Dorin Recean had their first online conversation. The parties discussed security issues in the region, integration into the European Union, joint projects of cross-border cooperation, and support for Ukraine in the wake of russia’s full-scale aggression.
“Ukraine and Moldova have good potential for the development of our relations in many areas. These include energy, logistics and transit, cross-border cooperation, and joint movement towards the EU. We are ready to strengthen our cooperation with the Government of Moldova in these and other areas,” Denys Shmyhal emphasized.
The Head of Ukrainian Government also noted that Ukraine supported Moldova’s position on the need to withdraw russian troops from the territory of Transnistria. Denys Shmyhal thanked the people of Moldova and its political leadership for helping Ukraine during russia’s full-scale aggression, in particular for sheltering Ukrainian refugees.
In turn, Dorin Recean emphasized that Moldova remained a reliable friend of Ukraine and was ready to support the peace formula proposed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Denys Shmyhal also invited the Prime Minister of Moldova to visit Kyiv.
