On 11 November, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell in Kyiv.
Denys Shmyhal thanked for the positive assessment of Ukraine’s progress in the European Commission’s report and the intention to open negotiations on clusters as soon as possible in 2025. He stressed that European integration was an absolute priority for Ukraine and thanked Josep Borrell for his personal leadership in this process.
The parties also discussed further cooperation within the framework of the European Peace Facility and the Ukraine Assistance Fund. The Prime Minister thanked for the transferred ammunition and expressed hope that Ukraine would receive a total of 1 million rounds of ammunition by the end of this year.
The Head of Ukrainian Government also raised the issue of financial support for Ukrainian arms production.
“Ukraine is interested not only in the development of joint production, but also in supporting the Ukrainian defence industry following the example of Denmark. This is when our allies finance the production of weapons in Ukraine for the needs of the Ukrainian Security and Defence Forces,” said Denys Shmyhal.
According to the Prime Minister, Ukraine appreciates the security agreement with the EU signed in June this year and looks forward to its successful implementation.
Denys Shmyhal expressed his sincere gratitude to Josep Borrell for his personal efforts and constant support to Ukraine during the full-scale war with russia.
