Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denys Maliuska met with representatives of the European Commission and the EU Delegation to Ukraine. The parties discussed the issues of identifying, freezing and confiscating russian assets in favour of Ukraine and how these funds can be used for the benefit of Ukraine.

The parties noted that Ukraine and its economy should begin to rebuild as soon as possible. All those affected – individuals, businesses, the state – must be compensated for their losses. And it is only fair that compensation should come from the aggressor. Therefore, the importance of creating a compensation mechanism and transferring frozen russian assets to the compensation fund is now beyond dispute and is one of the priority tasks.

The parties also discussed the improvement of the judicial system and reforms in the context of Ukraine’s European integration.
