The objective of the Government is to protect citizens from sharp fluctuations in gas prices and to ensure the stability of the heating season. This was emphasized by the Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on air of the program Svoboda Slova (Freedom of Speech – ed.) on ICTV channel.

The Prime Minister stressed that energy tariffs and prices had been fixed for the entire heating season. Therefore, prices for gas and electricity, heating and hot water will remain in place.

The Head of Government also noted that the heating season triggered on time, and the people of Ukraine are provided with light and heating.

"We have no plans for introducing rolling blackouts nowadays. Any outages that occur are repair activities, mainly due to weather conditions or technical necessity," said Denys Shmyhal.

The Prime Minister stressed that Ukraine has enough gas reserves pumped in the storage facilities for the population and industry to pass this heating season.

"We have an understanding of what direction we will have to work in the coming years, how we will improve Ukraine's energy independence. To date, a dozen agreements have been signed on the distribution of products worth almost $ 10 billion in investments, which will increase Ukrainian gas production by 5% or more annually. This, in turn, will ensure a reduction in gas prices for the population and for Ukrainian industry," said the Prime Minister.

According to Denys Shmyhal, the Government is also working to increase coal production in Ukrainian mines and grow its imports in winter. These steps ensure the supply of 2-2.3 million tons of coal per month with the required amount of 1.7-1.9 million tons.
