During an extraordinary meeting on February 13, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to allocate more than UAH 16.6 billion to ensure the continuity of flights over the territory of Ukraine taking into account the aggravated foreign policy situation. The resource will be used to provide the necessary guarantees for insurance and leasing companies.
The Government also amended the Procedure for the use of the reserve fund of the budget, allowing to spend money on the prevention of adverse events in the air transportation market related to failure to ensure insurance coverage for operators or owners of aircraft in the airspace of Ukraine during the armed aggression against Ukraine, threat of attack and any military action on the territory of Ukraine.
"The Government is allocating UAH 16.6 billion to guarantee the continuity of flights in the airspace of Ukraine. Today's decision will allow stabilizing the situation on the air transport market and provide state guarantees for leasing and insurance companies," said the Prime Minister.
In addition, the Government adopted a protocol decision that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Infrastructure prepare a plan of measures for alternative ways to return citizens to Ukraine’s territory in case domestic airlines are unable to operate international flights in Ukraine.
