  • Denys Shmyhal held a meeting with German entrepreneurs

    The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with representatives of the business community of the Federal Republic of Germany with the participation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Ms. Anka Feldhuzen.

    The meeting gathered together Head of the Economic Department of the German Embassy in Ukraine Peter Ziegler, Chairman of the Board of the German-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Alexander Markus, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko, and Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Ihor Petrashko, representatives of companies with German investments operating in Ukraine and others.

    During the meeting, Denys Shmyhal thanked "all investors who represent German business and invest in Ukraine, trust our country, pay taxes here, have introduced a culture of production, productivity and new technologies. " "We are ready to cooperate and absolutely open. We are reforming our economy, our business regulation sector, we hope that the environment will only improve year after year and German business will feel it," Denys Shmyhal assured.

    During the discussion, the Prime Minister of Ukraine agreed with the proposal of German business circles to pay attention to such an instrument of investor protection as the Business Protection Commission within the Government. "If you consider the work of the commission needs to be resumed, let's do it. But I am unwilling to consider that our business needs to be protected. I am a supporter of systematical solving problems," Denys Shmyhal stressed.

    The Prime Minister also told investors about the Program to stimulate the economy to overcome the effects of the COVID-19 epidemic and other key reforms implemented by the Government. Hence, the Head of Government noted that decentralization reform sees its final stages, thereby allowing to form sustainable communities. The Customs Service is undergoing an active transformation. "We want to transform our customs into the one with the easiest and fastest procedures among our neighboring countries. It is critical to introduce joint control and single databases with EU countries. I hope you will feel the result of the customs reform this year," emphasized Denys Shmyhal.

    Apart from that the Head of the Ukrainian Government answered the questions from German investors and discussed topical issues of investing in Ukraine. As a result, the participants of the meeting agreed on the initiative of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko to hold a Ukraine Reform Forum in Germany. This event is pre-scheduled for the first quarter of 2021.
