Denys Shmyhal noted the importance of partnership with the Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia, which is an economically strong region and ranks first among the German federal states in terms of trade and investment with Ukraine.
"In recent years, the partnership between Ukraine and the most powerful Federal Land you head has significantly intensified, especially in the economic sphere. We have good examples of cooperation in various fields. The majority of German investors with a significant amount of investment in the economy of our country come from the Land of North Rhine-Westphalia," stressed the Prime Minister.
In order to strengthen interregional cooperation, the Head of the Ukrainian Government proposed to consider the opening of a North Rhine-Westphalia Land Bureau in Ukraine, which would be an additional impetus to maximize the available potential.
"One of the main functions of the Bureau could be to disseminate comprehensive information among industrialists and entrepreneurs in North Rhine-Westphalia about the possibility of establishing cooperation with Ukrainian partners. It is a matter of dispersing objective information about Ukraine in order to deepen not only business contacts but also to intensify cooperation in education, tourism, culture and other spheres," the Prime Minister accentuated.
In addition, Denys Shmyhal expressed hope for the active participation of the German side in the international platform for the de-occupation of Crimea and said that the inaugural Summit of the Crimean Platform was scheduled for late August this year. The Prime Minister of Ukraine also conveyed to Armin Laschet an invitation from President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to visit Ukraine.
