Today, June 6, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denys Monastyrskyy and the recently appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Ukraine Bridget Brink discussed cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the U.S. Embassy and outlined the main directions of their work. It should be noted that this is the first official meeting between the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States since her appointment.

During the conversation, Denys Monastyrskyy voiced the key areas of the Ministry's work during the war. Among them: additional equipment, proper equipment of combat units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, reduction of crime and war crimes investigation, demining of territories after hostilities, restoration of critical infrastructure of SES and National Police of Ukraine and prevention of human trafficking. The Minister noted that the last point is due to the large number of internally displaced persons who have left their homes and the country.

"The whole team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is working on these issues every day. In addition, I will personally voice them at a meeting with the G7 ambassadors", said the Minister of Internal Affairs.

Answering the Minister's question about the vision of priorities in the work of the US Embassy in Ukraine, Ms. Brink named among the five main areas in which the U.S. Embassy will work. Most of them are related to the security unit.

"My first priority is to help you defend yourself. The second is to help people who need it. This is especially true of humanitarian issues and their funding. Third is to support the justice system in Ukraine. The fourth is to ensure the stability of both our and your states. This applies to weapons and security as well. Priority number five is to rebuild the embassy. I want to rebuild it from the inside so that I can work effectively with the team today," said the Ambassador.

The parties also discussed the security situation in Ukraine and agreed on joint efforts to restore peace in the country.
