Businesses received over UAH 284 million for adapting workplaces for people with disabilities

Since August 2023, the Employment Service has been actively supporting employers by compensating them for the costs of adapting workplaces for people with disabilities. During this time, more than 3,000 employers have taken advantage of this opportunity, creating accessible conditions for nearly 4,000 employees. The total amount of payments has already exceeded UAH 284 million. This year, funding of more than UAH 151 million has been provided.

The largest amount of compensation was transferred to employers in Kyiv, Cherkasy, Ivano-Frankivsk, Zhytomyr regions, and in the city of Kyiv.

The maximum compensation for persons with disabilities of group I amounts to UAH 120,000, and for group II – UAH 80,000.

The average payment is currently UAH 79,000. All employers who create new jobs for people with disabilities are eligible for compensation. Compensation is also available to employers who equip workplaces for veteran employees with disabilities who have returned from war to their previous jobs.

Also, sole proprietors and self-employed persons with disabilities (groups I and II), including veterans who started or continued their activities after being discharged from military service, can receive compensation for arranging their personal place of work.

The reimbursement covers the cost of assistive devices already purchased by the employer, such as specialized furniture, electric stair lifts, Braille keyboards and portable devices, assistive devices for sound reproduction and for hearing and vision, and other items. The employer must submit an application for compensation within 180 days from the date of employment/return to work of the person with a disability, state registration of the individual entrepreneur.

The application for compensation of expenses is submitted online via the Diia portal or offline at the employment center.

The decision on compensation is made within 10 working days, and the funds for workplace adaptation are transferred to the employer's account within 5 working days after the application is approved.
