Australia contributes additional EUR 6 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.

The Australian Government’s funds will be allocated to address the key urgent needs of the Ukrainian energy sector.

“We thank our Australian partners for supporting Ukraine and the energy sector in these difficult times. We continue to restore and rebuild the equipment damaged by the enemy and, with the help of our partners, we are bringing light and heat back to the homes of millions of Ukrainian families,” said Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko.

As a reminder, Australia has announced an additional contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund at the end of 2024. This brings Australia’s total contribution to the Fund to about EUR 18 million.

The Ukraine Energy Support Fund was established in April 2022 on the joint initiative of Energy Minister German Galushchenko and European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson under the Energy Community Secretariat.

To date, announced contributions from partners to the Fund amount to more than EUR 1 billion. Donors to the Fund include the public and private sectors from more than 30 countries, including EU Member States, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as international and regional organisations.

Since its inception, the Fund has become an effective instrument of international assistance in the energy sector, enabling Ukrainian energy companies to restore energy facilities after russian attacks, carry out repairs and install new capacity.
