Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine Farid Safarov took part in the forum "Critical Infrastructure Security and Humanitarian Mine Action".
He emphasized that currently, under the coordination of the Ministry of Energy as a sectoral body in the field of critical infrastructure protection, the fuel and energy complex of Ukraine was taking unprecedented measures to reinforce the physical protection of critical infrastructure.
Together with the regional military administrations, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection and the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development, the fuel and energy companies are taking measures to strengthen the physical security of critical infrastructure before the start of the 2023-2024 winter season.
The Deputy Minister also emphasized that the enemy continues to carry out not only physical but also cyber attacks on the energy sector of Ukraine, which began before the full-scale invasion.
In particular, the coordinated work of Ukrainian energy companies under the coordination of the Ministry of Energy and in cooperation with the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the National Security and Defense Council allows to ensure cyber defense of energy facilities.
"However, the respective cyber centers cannot cover the entire market, and there is a large area for the private sector to work. Therefore, we actively invite everyone and involve them in these processes," emphasized Farid Safarov.
