During a formal meeting in Singapore on October 29, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov and Minister for Home Affairs and Law of Singapore Kasiviswanathan Shanmugam discussed hybrid threats in the modern world and reached an agreement on cooperation between the cyber police units.

"We live in a world of hybrid threats. The trend towards the development of cybercrime, cyber threats in our country, as well as in your country, is growing. We reinforce the component to counter this crime category. And we are very interested in partnership along all the directions", stressed Arsen Avakov.

He emphasized that Ukraine and Singapore are in similar situations - they have a great neighbor with a similar cultural and linguistic context: "However, you are not attacked like Ukraine is. Unfortunately, for 5 years we have gained huge experience in countering cyberattacks as well. And it is rather relevant that you carefully prepare for possible threats, ranging from phishing attacks to the spread of fake news and interference in the work of government agencies."

In turn, the Head of the National Police Serhii Kniazev emphasized that one of the main elements in counteracting the hybrid war is the cyber police: "This unit that has been established recently demonstrates excellent results in work. Cyber policy units consist of well-trained personnel who possess the most advanced tools and are ready to withstand any hacker attack."

During the meeting, the parties issued a joint statement on in-depth cooperation in the sector of security and agreed to explore possibilities for further development of interaction, collaboration and exchange of experience in the area of national security aimed to combat terrorism, transnational organized crime, cybercrime, trafficking in human beings.
